AUBURN, WASHINGTON – The eighth annual Uniquely Auburn, a FREE community-sponsored celebration of cultural diversity recognizing people, places, and events that make Auburn unique, will be held Sunday, February 2, 2003 at the Performing Arts Center beginning at 2:00 p.m. The sixth annual Uniquely Auburn all ages/abilities Art Show will also be held in the PAC with art exhibited by a great diversity of Auburn citizens.
The program will feature performances by the nationally renowned Auburn High School Show Choir; the Ilalko Elementary 4th Grade Choir; and “The Troop”, an Auburn High School step dance group. In keeping with this year’s theme “2003: A Uniquely Auburn Tapestry”, several members of the original Auburn High School “Green Peppers” along with cheerleaders from the Auburn Panthers, will be entertaining the audience throughout the program.
On the more serious side, there will be a “Diversity Discussion” as well as a “Spirit Parade”, recognizing members of the community who were nominated by last year’s audience as people who exemplify the spirit of Auburn. In depth stories about a few of Auburn’s citizens will round out the program.
Following the program, there will be a free complimentary “Taste of Auburn” buffet-style dinner featuring a variety of tantalizing dishes and desserts donated by local restaurants and businesses.
Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, Soroptimist International of Auburn, Segale Business Park, City of Auburn, and Trillium support the eighth annual Uniquely Auburn event. The Auburn Performing Arts Center is located at 700 E. Main Street.
