AUBURN, WASHINGTON – The ninth annual Uniquely Auburn, a FREE community-sponsored celebration of cultural diversity recognizing people, places, and events that make Auburn unique, will be held Sunday, January 25, 2004 at the Performing Arts Center beginning at 2:00 p.m.
The Uniquely Auburn Art/Poetry Show, including the Auburn PTA Council’s “Reflections” program entries, will be held in the lobby of the PAC. Also located in the lobby of the PAC, will be a fascinating display of items from Auburn’s own White River Valley Historical Museum.
The program will feature performances by the Latino musical group “Yeshua”, Dick Scobee Elementary School Swingers, Auburn Winterguard, all girl rock band “Mechanical Dolls”, and a snippet from the Rainier Middle School production of “Annie”.
This is the third year of the “Spirit Parade”, recognizing several members of the community who exemplify the spirit of Auburn. In keeping with this year’s theme “Everyone Has a Story”, in-depth stories about Katie West, a student at Lakeview Elementary School as well as the story of Jed Rodarte, will be featured at the event. A special tribute to the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe for their generous support of the free celebration is also planned.
Following the program in the theater, there will be a free “Taste of Auburn” buffet-style dinner featuring a variety of tantalizing dishes and desserts donated by local restaurants and businesses.
Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, Soroptimist International of Auburn, Segale Business Park, City of Auburn, Auburn School District, and Trillium sponsor the ninth annual Uniquely Auburn event. The Auburn Performing Arts Center is located at 700 E. Main Street.
