Uniquely Auburn 1995 (The Beginning)
Uniquely Auburn reflects the Auburn community of yesterday, today and tomorrow. We are gathered to tell and listen to stories of family and community that continue to make Auburn unique. It is a special opportunity to be together to celebrate what we have been and how we dream to be as friends, neighbors, and community members.
Auburn is in the process of growth and development. This is a transition period as new business enterprises prosper such as the Supermall, Emerald Downs, the Muckleshoot Indian Casino, and the community of Lakeland Hills. Now is the time and opportunity to draw our citizens closer together, to reintroduce themselves to their neighbors, to welcome our new neighbors, and re-visit what it means to belong to the Auburn community.
Uniquely Auburn looks at the way things have been as a springboard to thinking about how we want them to be. The families of so many cultures have sustained and been sustained by the farmland, the railroad, the aerospace industry, and small businesses in Auburn for decades. More importantly, they have supported one another in schools, churches, and events that have brought them together in support of their community. It is this spirit of support and interdependence that is the focus of this annual event. It is the recognition and discovery of what being part of Auburn means to us.
